abstract The proposal is for a process for determining the soot content of exhaust gases, especially those from diesel engines, and a suitable measuring device for implementing the process. The characteristic of the process of the invention is that the soot content of exhaust gases is found indirectly via an O2 difference measurement so that use can be made in implementing the process of probes proved in practice, whereby these probes may, in implementing the process of the invention, also be used for controlling the air/fuel mixture in internal combustion engines.
