abstract | The analyser is pref. of macro-molecules. The analyser and matrix are mixed as homogenously as possible in a fluid preparation and introduced into a vacuum for laser desorption. Before analysis is carried out the preparation is subjected to cooling in shock-like fashion. The latter process is carried out at roughly 10 to the power of 5 K per second. It can be shock frozen, e.g. dried frozen. In a realisation, the ion source (10) of a mass spectrometer is coupled to a vacuum chamber accommodating a preparation carrier (11). The latter serves as the target for a laser beam (12) for laser desorption. ADVANTAGE - Retains homogenous mixing of analyser and matrix in preparation. |
