titleOfInvention LOCKING AND CONNECTING SYSTEM FOR HEAT-SHRINKABLE MOLDED PARTS
abstract A cable or pipe connection and seaning system employs heat shrink tapes (1) or mouldings of known type to provide the outer sheath of the joint. An intermediate stage of assembly for the joint is achieved by moulding or otherwise securing flexible metal strips (2a, 2b) along the mating edges (1a, 1b) of the heat shrink material. The strips are made up of a lattice of wires to form an interlocking matrix (3, 4, 6) when pressed together and solder beads (5) and or adhesive tracks ensure mechanical strength and sealing after fusing or curing the joint is completed by heat shrinking in the usual way. USE/ADVANTAGE - Provide a secure and sealed joint for cable or pipe assemblies. precisee mfg. tolerances of alternating metal sleeve or crimped connectors not required. Retains flexibility throughout assembly to assist hand forming and bending allows degree of repositioning or rework up to final shrink. Proprietary burr fastenings can be substituted for metal matrix in certain applications.
