abstract Polydiorganosiloxane-polycarbonate block copolymers (I) based on dihydroxydiphenyl-cycloalkanes of formula (II) are claimed, (I) have Mw 10,000-300,000, and contain 21-99.5 wt.% aromatic carbonate and 79-0.5 wt.% polydiorganosiloxane. R1, R2 = H, Ha1 (pref. C1 or Br), 1-8C alkyl, 5-6C cycloalkyl, 6-10C aryl or 7-12C aralkyl (pref. phenyl-(1-4C-alkyl, esp. benzyl); m = 4-7, pref. 4 or 5; R3, R4 = H or 1-12C alkyl (individually varibale for each X); X = carbon; R3 and R4 both = alkyl on at least one X atom. Pref. polysiloxane block is the residue of an alpha, omega-bis-hydroxyaryloxy -polysiloxane with degree of polymerisation (DP) 5-200, pref. with formula (III) (with Ar = bisphenol residue of formula (II) or (IV) (see below); R, R1 = opt. branched alkyl or halo- alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or halo-aryl, pref. Me; no. of diorganosiloxy units n = o + p + q = 5-200, pref. 20-160).
