titleOfInvention | Photographic silver halide material and method for its processing |
abstract | Photographic Ag halide (AgX) material consists of a base with light-sensitive AgX emulsion coating(s) a hardening coat and opt. other light-sensitive and light-insensitive costs. The hardening coat, which is the furthest of all the coats from the base, contains a hardener (I), water-sol. sulphoethylcellulose (II), which practically does not react with (I), less than 0.5 mg/m2 gelatin and an anionic surfactant (III). (I) is an instant hardener, pref. an N-aminocarbonyl-azolium or -azinium cpd. of formula (IA): R1 = alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; R2 = as R1 or alkylene, arylene, aralkylene or alkaralkylene with the second valency attached to a gp. of the formula (IB); or NR1R2 = a (substd.) heterocycle, opt. ring-substd. e.g. by 1-3C alkyl or halogen; R3 = H, alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, -NR4-COR5, -(Ch2)m-NR8R9, -(CH2)n-CONR13R14, -(CH2)p-CH(R15)-Y-R16, a bridging gp. or a direct bond to a polymer chain; R4, R6, R7, R9, R14, R15, R17, R18, and R19 = H or 1-4C alkyl; R5 = H, 1-4C alkyl or NR6R7; R8 = -COR10; R10 = NR11R12; R11 = 1-4C alkyl or aryl; R12 and R13 = H, 1-4C alkyl or aryl; R16 = H, 1-4C alkyl, COR18 or COnHR19; m = 1-3; n = 0-3; p = 2-3; Y = O or NR17 or NR13R14 = a (substd.) heterocycle, opt. ring-substd. by 1-3C alkyl or halogen; Z = C atoms completing a 5- or 6-membered aromatic heterocycle, opt. with anellated benzene ring; X- = an anion, which is absent if the rest of the mol. already contains an The coat contains 50-500 mg (I)/m2, 2-500 mg (II)/m2 and 5-50 mg (III)/m2. USE/ADVANTAGE - Soiling during processing is minimised and the materials shows little swelling and high wet scratching resistance. The hardening coat is suitable for e.g. colour reversal and colour positive films colour photographic and colour reversal paper, colour diffusion transfer material and material for the Ag dye bath process. |
