titleOfInvention METHOD AND DEVICE FOR TREATING EXHAUST GASES WITH OXIDATION OF POLLUTANTS
abstract The invention relates to the separation of nitrogen oxides from gases and exhaust gases by oxidation of NO to NO2. According to the invention, the oxidation proceeds with the aid of oxidising agents which are formed in the gas stream by reaction of sodium chlorite and/or sodium peroxide with inorganic acids. In this case they are chlorous acid and hydrogen peroxide. The NO2 formed is immediately trapped by coinjected basic material, e.g. calcium hydroxide, and separated off at separators, e.g. electrostatic precipitators. The NO2 formed can also be separated off in scrubbers operated under alkaline conditions or on solid layers or packed bed filters. The apparatus according to the invention comprises a metering device, a mixing section, e.g. a reactor having baffles and mixing devices, and a separator, e.g. an electrostatic precipitator or cloth filter.
