Medicaments for nasal or ocular admin. contain 0.0005-2 wt% of azelastin (I) or its salts. (I) is 4-(4-chlorobenzyl)-2 (perhydro-1-methyl-4-azepinyl) -1(2H)-phthalazinone and is described in DE 2164058 (as an antiallergic agent). The medicaments are formulated as aq. solns., gels, ointments, aerosol suspensions or powders. Solns. contain 0.001-0.1% of a preservative, esp. thiomersal or an alkyl benzyl diemthyl ammonium chloride, and may also contain up to 15% of a water-miscible solvent. |
