abstract Pharmaceutical compsn. contains a polysaccharide-contg. component (A) of Thuja plants obtd,. by (1) extracting above-ground parts of the plants (communited and cleaned with organic solvent) with aq. alkali; (2) treating the extract with organic solvent to ppte. polysaccharide and proteins; (3) sepn. of the ppte. and dissolving this in water at below room temp; (4) acidification of the soln. to ppte. protein; (5) sepn. of the ppte. and treatment of the supernatant with organic solvent, and (6) dialysis of the ppte., then drying. Pref. (A) is derived from T.occidentale.
