The present invention describes a process for the preparation of (D)- and (L)-3-(2-furyl)alanine, characterised in that the compound of the formula VIII <IMAGE> in which R<1> denotes hydrogen or CH3 and R<2> denotes C1-C3-alkyl, is converted enzymatically into the compound of the formula (L)-I <IMAGE> and the latter is separated off, and, in the event that R<1> is hydrogen, the protective group in the remaining D compound of the formula VIII is eliminated if desired, giving the compound of the formula (D)-I <IMAGE> , or in that a compound of the formula IX <IMAGE> in which R<3> is C1-C3-alkyl, is converted enzymatically into the (L)-I compound, which is separated off. |
