For the dehydrogenation of saturated or partially unsaturated hydrocarbons, a batch of hydrocarbon is brought into contact with a metal or a salt or a metal complex of groups VIIa, VIII and Ib and a hydrogen acceptor formed from a metal or a metal alloy, the dehydrogenated hydrocarbons obtained being separated in a first stage from the contact material in which the hydrogen acceptor is present at least partially in the form of a hydride, and the temperature of the contact material being increased in a further stage to destroy the hydride. |
