In the procedure, diluted aqueous solution of acrylic amide, sodium acrylate, and ammonium persulphate is deoxygenated by an inert gas then copolymerized in batch or continuous manner at 50 to 75 DEG C for 1 to 10 hours. The solution to be polymerized may contain 3 to 6 per cent of acrylic amide, 0.4 to 0.8 per cent of sodium acrylate, and 0.001 to 0.07 per cent of ammonium persulphate. The copolymer product is a uniform viscous liquid with molecular weight in the order of magnitude of 10<6> Dalton. |
