PRODUCTION OF PIG IRON BY REDUCING FINE-GRAINED IRON ORE BY MEANS OF CARBON AND OXYGEN CARRIERS AND PLANT FOR CARRYING OUT THE PROCESS |
abstract |
The invention relates to a process for the continuous production of pig iron by the reduction of finely granular iron ore by means of carbon/oxygen carriers, the finely granular iron ores being preheated and prereduced by means of hot reduction gas in a heat exchanger system, without sticky or liquid phases being formed. The products thus formed are subjected to end reduction in an iron bath and converted into liquid pig iron. In the process, there is produced in the iron bath, by continuous supply of carbon carriers and oxygen carriers, carbonization of the pig iron and a gas essentially consisting of CO and H2. This gas is firstly used as hot reduction gas for preheating and prereducing the iron ore particles and, secondly, undergoes partial afterburning in the iron bath reactor in order to meet the energy requirement there. |
