titleOfInvention METHOD FOR PRODUCING UNSYMMETRIC DIALKYLENTRIAMINES
abstract Asymmetrical dialkylenetriamines of the general formula H2N-A-NH-B-NH2 (I) or their ammonium salts, in which A is branched or unbranched alkylene having 2 to 10 C atoms and B is alkylene having 2 or 3 C atoms, A and B in each case contain at least 2 C atoms between the two nitrogen atoms and A and B are different, are prepared by reacting a compound of the general formula H2N-A-NH2 (II) with less than the stoichiometric amount of a haloalkylamine hydrohalide of the general formula X-B-NH2.HX (III) in the liquid phase, A and B in formulae II and III having the meanings indicated and X in formula III denoting chlorine or bromine, and by isolating the ammonium salts formed or converting them to the free dialkylenetriamines.
