Process for the preparation of tetrahydrofuran or of mixtures which, in addition to tetrahydrofuran, contain gamma -butyrolactone and/or 1,4-butanediol, by catalytic hydrogenation of maleic acid, succinic acid, fumaric acid, maleic anhydride or succinic anhydride at temperatures from 150 to 350@C and at pressures from 50 to 350 bar on a catalyst which contains, as catalytically active metal, cobalt and at least one of the elements copper and phosphorus. |
