abstract | Preparation of 4-nitro-5-mercaptoimidazoles of the formula I <IMAGE> in which the radicals R<1> denotes alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, arylalkyl or alkylaryl; R<2> denotes hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, arylalkyl or alkylaryl and R<3> denotes alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, alkylaryl or a heterocyclic or heteroaromatic radical as well as hydrogen or a counterion of the corresponding thiolate where the organic radicals mentioned can still carry inert substituents under the reaction conditions, by reacting dinitroimidazoles of the formula II <IMAGE> in which R<1> and R<2> have the abovementioned meaning, with mercapto compounds of the formula III R<3>-SH in which R<3> denotes hydrogen, alkoxyalkyl, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, alkylaryl or a heterocyclic or heteroaromatic radical, in a solvent or diluent at a pH of at least 4 and isolating the products in a manner known per se. |
