Investigations of teeth-cleaning habits have revealed that damage to the gums, bones of the periodontium and the hard tooth structure increases with increasing awareness of oral hygiene because of excessively strong brushing. Therefore, the invention proposes a method and a device for determining the brushing force during cleaning of the teeth which permit, on the one hand, accurate recording and, on the other hand, evaluation of the contact forces occurring during cleaning of the teeth in a manner suitable for dental practice. At the same time, the brushing force is measured by two wire strain gauges (10, 11) which rest against the brush handle (3), are loaded independently of one another by resiliently bending the brush handle (3) and are connected to an electronic evaluation unit to which deflection forces occurring during cleaning of the teeth respond independently of one another and are evaluated by the evaluating unit as a function of the direction of the force. <IMAGE> |
