titleOfInvention METHOD FOR PRODUCING ISOMIC PURE Z-2-METHYL-2-BUTEN ACID AND ITS ESTERS
abstract Process for the preparation of isomerically pure Z-2-methyl-2-butenoic acid (angelic acid) and esters thereof, in which angelonitrile is isolated from a mixture of the isomeric 2-methyl-2-butenonitriles and hydrolysed stereoselectively to give angelamide. The angelic esters, or angelic acid, are obtained by acid alcoholysis or acid hydrolysis of the angelamide.
