abstract | Self-extinguishing, halogen-free, thermoplastic moulding compositions essentially containing A) from 2 to 97 parts by weight of a polymer component which comprises at least 55 % by weight, based on A, of polyphenylene ether (a1) and the remainder of a vinylaromatic polymer a2, B) from 2 to 97 parts by weight - of a thermoplastic copolymer b1 comprising from 30 to 90.9 % by weight, based on b1, of a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon having 8 to 12 carbon atoms (b11), from 9 to 40 % by weight, based on b1, of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having 3 to 6 carbon atoms and containing nitrile groups (b12), from 0.1 to 30 % by weight, based on b1, of a copolymerisable, alpha , beta -unsaturated dicarbonyl compound (b13) or of a copolymerisable, ethylenically unsaturated monomer carrying an epoxy group (b14), oxazoline group (b15) or hydroxyl group (b16), or a mixture of at least two of compounds b13 to b16, and from 0 to 30 % by weight, based on b1, of at least one copolymerisable, ethylenically unsaturated monomer b17 which is different from b11 to b16, - and/or at least one graft copolymer b2 comprising from 30 to 90 % by weight, based on b2, of a butadiene or acrylate rubber having a glass transition temperature of below 0@C as the graft base and from 10 to 70 % by weight, based on b2, of a copolymer b1, prepared in the presence of the graft base, as graft shell, and C) from 1 to 40 parts by weight of a phosphorus-containing...
