An analytical element for determining the activity of lactate dehydrogenase has a reagent layer. The reagent layer contains NAD<+>, lactate, a buffer and an enzyme such as pyruvate kinase, pyruvate oxidase or glutamate-pyruvate transaminase. This enzyme is able to convert a pyruvate, produced from the lactate by the action of lactate dehydrogenase in the presence of NAD<+>, into a product other than lactate, which eliminates the effect of pyruvate on the activity of lactate dehydrogenase. |
