abstract |
Prodn. of acyloxyalkane sulphonates of formula RCOO-A-SO3M (I) is effected by reacting a hydroxyalkane sulphonate of formula HO-A-SO3M (II) with a carboxylic acid of formula RCOOH (III) in the presence of aq. HCl. R = 7-21C alkyl or alkenyl; A = 2-4C alkylene; M = alkali(ne earth) metal. The reaction is pref. effected at 80-150 deg.C with distn. of aq. HCl. Free HO-A-SO3M may be added in an amt. of 1-5 mole% before or during the reaction. |
