The present invention relates to a process for welding plastic sheets, webs and/or blanks lying one on top of the other in a planar manner, preferably of specific plastic material and specific Shore D hardness ranges. The plastic sheets and the like lying one on top of the other in a planar manner are welded and severed on a conveyor belt by means of a welding press whose welding electrode has a sharp cutting edge with a bevelled welding profile which is preferably set back with respect to the cutting edge. The sharp or knife-like cutting edge is arranged vertically or virtually vertically on the welding press and/or with respect to the counterpressure plate and/or with respect to the plastic sheets, webs and/or blanks. Between the sharp or knife-like cutting edges and the set back welding profile, the welding electrode has a groove-like depression. The welded and severed, points or lines of thinned material, via which the sheet waste is at first still in contact with the plastic article comprise 3-25%, preferably 4-20%, of the total thickness of the plastic sheets, webs and/or blanks lying one on top of the other in a planar manner. |
