| abstract | Compsns. for preventing alcohol abuse contain 4,5,5a,6-tetrahydro- dibenzol(cd,f) indole derives. (I) with at least one oxy substit. (specifically OH or acyloxy) on one or both fused benzine rings, or their acid-addn. salts. (I) are described in GB7921344, 8119500 and 8309728. (I) are of formula (Ia) where R1 = H, 1-10C alkyl, 3-7C cycloalkyl or (3-7C)cycloalkyl(1-4C)alkyl; R2 = 1-5C alkyl; R3 = 1-4C alkyl; R4 = OH or acyloxy. The compsns. pref. contain (-)-(4S,5aR)-5-ethyl-4,5,5a,6 -tetrahydro- 9,10-dihydroxy-4-n-propyl-dibenz (cd,f)indole (Ib) or its 2-methyl deriv. They are formulated for oral or parenteral admin. in unit doses of 0.01-25 (esp. 0.5-5) mg. The daily dose is 0.05-50 mg. |
