A handle piece for use with a large variety of different electrosurgical electrodes, which comprises a tensioning sleeve having a central bore extending axially for accommodation of adapters and electrodes, slots extending radially from the central bore for accommodation of the flat end of a scalpel blade, and a pair of bores extending axially and arranged diametrically relative to the central bore for accommodation of the two pins of electro-coaptation forceps. The bore of an insulating sleeve and the outer surface of the tensioning sleeve cause compression of the slotted region of the tensioning sleeve during a relative rotation in a first direction. A forceps adapter for coupling the forceps to the handle piece without the diametrically arranged bores is provided. The pin of the adapter is inserted in the central bore of the tensioning sleeve and a pair of flexible small tubes electrically connected to the adapter pin is provided for accommodation of the pins of the forceps. |
