abstract In a process for producing damming and back-filling building materials, in particular for underground mining, which comprise hydraulically setting binders and optionally aggregates, up to 70 % by weight of roasting residues from carbon-containing tailings from coal processing having a fineness of at least 6000 cm<2>/g (Blaine method) and up to 30 % by weight of aggregates as sweepings are processed into a mortar which can be used as early-strength building material in underground mining, with 30-50 % by weight of cement being added to the roasted material and the mortar mixture being produced with addition of water having a temperature from 60 to 80 DEG C to increase the early strength. The mortar mixture can preferably be used as gunning (spraying) mortar.
