titleOfInvention METHOD FOR BIODEGRADING HALOGENED HYDROCARBONS
abstract Halogenated hydrocarbons have previously been removed from water on an industrial scale in order to give them off into the air, which only produces a displacement of the problem. A process is presented for the biological (microbial) degradation of halogenated hydrocarbons in aqueous solutions, a utilisable substrate (co-substrate) being provided to the microorganisms. In this case, the microorganisms colonise solid bodies, in particular those in which the co-substrate is incorporated in a form available for the microorganisms and which optionally absorb the halogenated hydrocarbons.
