The sodium salt of nitropropane-1,3-diol can be prepared safely from the reaction solution of nitromethane and paraformaldehyde with an addition of sodium methylate by means of evaporative cooling, which consequently allows reaction temperatures of 35 to 50 DEG C to be maintained. |
