titleOfInvention | BINDING RESIN FOR A TONER, TONER CONTAINING BINDING RESIN AND METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF |
abstract | Binder resin for a toner comprises a polymer (I) having at least 2 peaks or shoulders in the chromotogram obtd. by gel permeation chromatography. These include a peak or shoulder A with the least mol. wt., Ma, of 2000 to 80000; a peak or shoulder C with the greatest mol. wt., Mc, such that the ratio Mc/Ma is at least 150; and a peak or shoulder B with a mol. wt., Mb, intermediate between Ma and Mc. Ma pref. = 2000 to 40000; Mb = 3 x 10 power 5 to 1 x 10 power 6; and Mc = 3 x 10 power 6 or more. The relationship of Ma and Mc is such that (-2.5 x 10 power 2 x Ma) + (5.5 x 10 power 6) is less than or equal to Mc, which is less than or equal to -5.0 x 10 power 2 x Ma) + (1.5 x 10 power 7). The peaks or shoulders have heights Ha, Hb and Hc such that the ratio Ha:Hb:Hc = 1:0.2-1.0:0.1-0.6. |
