A repellent against forest pests, in particular bark beetles and curculionids, which contains active ingredients found in crude terpentine obtained by the sulphate method or in a condensate which resembles crude terpentine and which is obtained when tall oil is processed. The composition is obtained as residue when crude terpentine or the condensate are distilled at 0.9-1.2 kPa at temperatures of up to 115 DEG C. The repellent is used for protecting plants, trees and timber against insect attack. |
