titleOfInvention | TEST RAIL FOR SEMI-QUANTITATIVE DETERMINATION OF FLUROESCENT SUBSTANCES, IN PARTICULAR. OF PORPHYRINES IN LIQUIDS, e.g. URINE OR BLOOD IN THE FILTERED ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT |
abstract | The applicant has developed for a colorimeter which he once designed himself and which is based on the principle of crossed colour filters (after Stokes) a "test rail" which in the case of fluorescing substances permits the fluorescence intensity to be estimated with an accuracy that is sufficient in practice, in particular in liquids such as, e.g., the semi-quantitative determination of porphyrins in urine (within the scope of the prescribed lead monitoring investigations). By contrast with all previously conventional methods, in this case the use of reagents which present a fire risk and are damaging to health is eliminated along with a complicated operating procedure. Only this test rail is the subject-matter of the application: it contains a series of round discs having different colour gradations in accordance with different concentration ranges of the substances being sought, the samples being in a cuvette on the "fluorescent plate" (colorimeter) adjacent thereto. Estimation of the concentration is performed by visual comparison. This search test is also suitable given appropriate colour changes for other fluorescing substances. |
