abstract | The method entails cleaving off the glucose in the form of 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural by acid hydrolysis at elevated temperature and pressure, removing proteins from the reaction mixture and condensing the 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural with an organic compound which forms a coloured product with the 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural, and determining the concentration of the resulting coloured product by spectrophotometry, in which the proteins which are enclosed in cells and/or insoluble in water are induced to dissolve where appropriate using one or more ionic or non-ionic detergent or detergents, and the glucose is cleaved off in the form of 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural in this solution using 1 or more at least 1 N acid(s) and using pressures of 0.1 to 0.2 MPa Ä1.0 to 2.0 atmÜ at temperatures from 20 to 120 DEG C. n<??>The invention also relates to a reagent kit for carrying out this method. |
