abstract A composition which can be cured by means of atmospheric oxygen and can preferably be used as a sealant is obtainable by reacting a hydroxyl- and optionally epoxide group-containing copolymer A with carboxylic acids B in such amounts that from 35 to 100 mol% of hydroxyl groups and, if present, epoxide groups of the copolymer A react with the carboxyl groups of carboxylic acid B, the copolymer A having been obtained from a1) from 35 to 87% by weight of one or more alkyl esters of acrylic acid having 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical, a2) from 10 to 35% by weight of acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile and/or vinyl acetate, a3) either a31) from 3 to 30% by weight of one or more omega -hydroxyalkyl esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid having 1 to 5 carbon atoms in the alkylene radical, or a32) from 3 to 30% by weight of glycidyl acrylate or glycidyl methacrylate, a4) from 0 to 35% by weight of acrylic or vinyl monomers having a composition differing from a1) to a3), in the presence of mercapto group-containing regulators containing at least one hydroxyl group in the molecule, where the total amounts of components a1) to a4) must add up to 100% by weight, and the copolymer has a mean molecular weight of from 1000 to 4000, and the carboxylic acids B used are one or more organic monocarboxylic acids having 12 to 26 carbon atoms and at least one olefinic double bond.
