titleOfInvention ELECTROCHEMICAL ELEMENT
abstract An electrochemical cell contains a metallic first electrode and a first electrolyte which reacts chemically with the latter during discharge and contains dissolved metal salt. It also has a second electrode to which a second electrolyte is assigned, the latter being separated from the first electrolyte by a porous partition. As the cell discharges, negative OH ions, to which the partition is permeable, are formed. The partition acts as a barrier which prevents the passage of the metal and of the acid residues of the metal salt dissolved in the first electrolyte into the second electrolyte.
