abstract To prepare pure n-butyraldehyde, propylene is reacted with H2 and CO, the catalyst is removed from the reaction product, and the mixture of n- and i-butyraldehyde is distilled off. In a subsequent second distillation step, the isomeric aldehydes are separated from each other. In this distillation, a monocarboxylic is added to the aldehyde mixture.
