abstract |
A foundation for the vibration-free erection of machines or the like is made by hardening a mass in a mould. The foundation contains a hardened inorganic mass having a density of 2.2 to 3.0, especially 2.5 to 2.7, g/cm<3> and is produced from a) 15 to 30 % by weight of an aqueous 30 to 65 % potassium silicate solution which contains caustic potash and in which the SiO2/K2O molar ratio is 1.0 to 2.0/1, b)15 to 35 % by weight of an oxide mixture containing amorphous SiO2 and alumina and/or water-containing amorphous disperse-pulverulent silica and c) 45 to 65 % by weight of fillers. The potassium silicate solution can be prepared by dissolving water-containing amorphous silica in potassium hydroxide or an aqueous solution thereof, in which case the component b) can also consist wholly or partially of metakaolin. |
