titleOfInvention Process for the production of urea
abstract In a method for synthesizing urea, in which ammonia and carbon dioxide are reacted at urea synthesis pressure and temperature in a urea synthesis zone, excess ammonia and unreacted ammonium carbamate are separated from the urea synthesis melt thus obtained as a gaseous mixture containing ammonia and carbon dioxide, which gaseous mixture is returned to the urea synthesis zone and, on the other hand, urea is obtained from an aqueous urea solution which has been obtained by separating off the excess ammonia and unreacted ammonium carbamate, the invention provides combined conditions for different process steps, whereby urea is produced using less high-pressure steam and less low pressure steam is recovered. Stripping using carbon dioxide can be incorporated into this process with good efficiency. The method can reduce the construction costs of a urea synthesis plant.
