titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR WET GALVINIZING OBJECTS IN THE ESSENTIAL ESSENCE |
abstract | In the wet galvanising of wet articles essentially consisting of iron and whose surface is still contaminated with hydrochloric acid and possibly iron chloride from the pretreatment, the zinc melt is covered with a top flux of molten zinc chloride and alkali metal chloride. The covering is regenerated by adding fluxes which contain ammonium chloride, potassium chloride and, if required, zinc chloride. By adding the regenerating flux, a weight ratio of zinc chloride to alkali metal chloride of 1.5 : 1 to 4 : 1 and a content of oxidic zinc compounds of 10 to 40% by weight, calculated as zinc oxide, are maintained in the top flux. |
