titleOfInvention | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SEPARATING ARSES IN METALLURGICAL PROCESSES, ESPECIALLY FOR THE REMOVAL OF ARSES FROM ARSSENOUS GASES |
abstract | In the pyrometallurgical treatment of arsenic-containing sulphide ores, for example copper ore concentrate or lead ore concentrate, which is carried out at high temperatures and high oxygen potentials, hot waste gases are formed in which the arsenic is volatilised as arsenic oxide. To remove the arsenic or to recover the arsenic from the arsenic-containing waste gases, it is proposed according to the invention that the waste gases are contacted with an aqueous solution and the arsenic contained in the waste gases, especially arsenic oxide from the gas phase or vapour phase, is transferred into the aqueous solution, from which the arsenic is precipitated by cementation, especially in a vibratory cementation reactor, by means of an electrochemically less positive cementation metal such as, for example, scrap iron or granulated zinc, formation of the highly toxic arsenic hydride being avoided in this cementation by maintaining the stability range of elemental arsenic and/or the alloys or compounds thereof with the cementation metal. |
