titleOfInvention PRIMER WITH A CONTENT OF POLYARYL SULFIDE RESIN FOR COATING FROM FLUOROCOLOR POLYMERS
abstract A primer which is particularly suitable for coatings of fluorocarbon polymers essentially comprises a) 100 parts by weight of a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene, perfluoro(alkylvinyl) ether and optionally hexafluoropropylene or vinylidene fluoride, b) from 10 to 250 parts by weight of a mixture of lithium hydroxide and finely divided silicon dioxide produced by thermal means, c) from 10 to 1000 parts by weight of a thermoplastic polyarylene sulphide resin, and d) water as the liquid carrier. Up to 80 parts by weight of component a) may optionally be replaced by dispersed polytetrafluoroethylene particles. The primer is particularly suitable for application to articles having uneven surfaces, since its adhesion-promotion effect is entirely adequate even in relatively thick coatings. It is used for the coating of both metallic and non-metallic substrates, a top coat of a fluorocarbon polymer subsequently being applied without the need for interim heat treatment.
