titleOfInvention METHOD FOR PRODUCING HOMO- AND / OR COPOLYMERISATES OF VINYL CHLORIDE
abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of homopolymers and/or copolymers of vinyl chloride with olefinically unsaturated comonomers which have only a low content of defective particles, so-called fish eyes, or none at all, by free-radical suspension homopolymerisation and/or copolymerisation at from 5 to 80 DEG C, in general in a suspension using assistants. According to the invention, the process is carried out by exposing the reaction space, before the starting materials are added or at least before the polymerisation initiator or an initiator mixture is employed, to the action of at least one polymerisation inhibitor and/or at least one antioxidant, i.e. phenols, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen sulphites and the like. These substances are then preferably removed from the reaction medium, the necessary reaction components are added, the reaction conditions are established and the polymerisation and/or copolymerisation of vinyl chloride is then carried out. When the polymerisation is complete, inhibitors or antioxidants are added, if necessary, and the suspension is worked up.
