titleOfInvention THREE-STROKE - GAS ENGINE WITH THE PRINCIPAL ARRANGEMENT OF ITS RELATED SUB-AGGREGATES
abstract The invention relates to a newly developed internal combustion engine which is driven by means of highly explosive gases such as hydrogen or acetylene. The three-stroke gas engine comprises a stator (S) and an axially supported rotor (R; Fig 3). It is supplied with air and hydrogen by way of an external compressor. The highly explosive hydrogen-air mixture passes through separate ducts of the stator and rotor into a combustion chamber. The very high gas pressure produced by the combustion of the gas mixture directly drives the axially supported rotor. Four pistons in the rotor, which run parallel to the rotor axis, ensure that no fall in pressure occurs inside the ducts lying in the stator and rotor. By means of the associated auxiliary units the three-stroke gas engine can be switched off and started at any time without any difficulty at low energy cost by the use of the highly explosive gas mixture and the external compression. In addition the three-stroke gas engine has an energy recovery system which converts the mechanical braking energy into usable fuel. <IMAGE>
