titleOfInvention | Process for the fermentative production of purines |
abstract | The present invention relates to the fermentative production of purines using mutants of the microorganisms Streptomyces coelicolor A3 (2), deposited on April 1, 1982 at the German Collection of Microorganisms (DSM), Gesellschaft für Biotechnologische Forschung mbH, Griesebachstrasse 8, 4300 Göttingen, under no DSM 2336 and DSM 2348, which were not previously known as producers of such compounds. The mutants Streptomyces coelicolor A3 (2) mentioned above were cultivated submerged and excreted into the substrate xanthine, hypoxanthine, adenine and uric acid. Xanthine, hypoxanthine and adenine are purine bases that arise in the biosynthetic route of purine nucleotides, which in turn are derivatives of nucleic acids, while purine uric acid occurs in the further metabolism of xanthine by the enzyme xanthine oxidase. |
