METHOD FOR THE CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF 1,2-DICHLORETHANE |
abstract |
The invention relates to a process for the continuous preparation of 1,2-dichloroethane by reaction of ethylene with chlorine at elevated temperature in liquid phase in a stainless-steel reaction zone in the presence of finely divided iron powder as catalyst. The iron powder is metered into the reaction zone in such an amount as to obtain concentrations in the range from 50 to 2500 ppm, calculated as iron(III) chloride and based on 1,2-dichloroethane. |
