titleOfInvention Process for reducing the resin content in the manufacture of cellulose pulp
abstract The increasing shortage of wood has led to the fact that one is forced to use fresh wood in the cellulose mills. This creates major problems, especially with the sulfite mills. A chemical-mechanical process for resin removal has recently been developed in which the lignocellulose material is adjusted to a pulp concentration of 15-35% after pulping, washing and optionally sieving and a partial lignification bleaching and alkali is added, whereupon the pulp is a mild one , mechanical treatment in a screw defibrator with an energy input of 8 to 100 kWh per ton of pulp. The treatment is ended in a separate stage where the pulp is reacted with alkali which is added over a period of 0.1-5 hours. The pulp is then washed. It has been found, however, that in the manufacture of unbleached pulp, the pulp is not of the same high quality level with regard to brightness as is the case with regard to the low resin content. This problem is solved by the method according to the invention, which largely corresponds to the method described above and also has the characteristic feature that in addition to alkali in an amount of 0.5 to 17 g NaOH per kg of water present, there is also an oxidizing bleaching agent for the pulp is admitted.
