titleOfInvention | Use of 1,1-di (C 1 -C 6 -alkyl) -2-phenyl-ethane derivatives as odoriferous substances |
abstract | The invention relates to the use of 1,1-di (C ↓ 1-C ↓ 6-alkyl) -2-phenyl-ethane derivatives of the formula A (formula) where R is formyl, hydroxymethyl, formoxymethyl, acetoxymethyl - or nitrile group and the total number of carbon atoms in the two alkyl substituents together is a maximum of 8, as fragrances or components of perfume compositions for cosmetic or technical perfuming and the process for the preparation of the compound of formula A in a manner known per se by reacting benzyl chloride with an α-branched aliphatic aldehyde with up to 10 carbon atoms by means of phase transfer reaction to aldehyde Aa, optionally catalytic reduction using transition metal catalysts to alcohol Ab, optionally esterification of Ab to Ac with acetic anhydride or optionally conversion of the aldehyde Aa with Hydroxylamine to the corresponding oxime and dehydration to the nitrile Ad or, if necessary, conversion of the in stage 2 obtained alcohol Ab to aldehyde Ae. |
