abstract The invention relates to a method of adapting dentures to the dental stumps and the gingiva above these by means of correspondingly prepared impressions and casts of the areas of the mouth. The replica of the area of the mouth takes the form of a so-called master model. In this model the dental stumps are arranged so as to be removable. The gingiva located above each particular dental stump is ground away in the master model in order to achieve a better transition between denture and neck of the dental stump. In order to achieve an additional, exact adaptation of the denture to the gingiva, the gingiva is reproduced in the master model in the form of artificial gums. These artificial gums are adapted to resemble the natural gingival conditions as closely as possible, including the softness thereof. These artificial gums comprise a free-flowing, curable, ductile material and are releasably connected to the master model. The artificial gums are expediently made of two parts, so that the rear gingival region and the front gingival region can be inserted separately.
