The invention relates to the field of polymer chemistry, in particular to an electron exchange resin, a process for its preparation and its use. The electron exchange resin has a three-dimensional structure, the elementary members of which correspond to the following general formulas: (Formula) in which R, n and m have the meanings given above, the ratio of the members of the general formula I to the members of the general formula II being 0.1 to 99.9: 99.9 to 0.1. The process for the production of said resin consists in the sulphonation of a mixture of phenol and para-phenylenediamine and the subsequent cocondensation of the sulphonation product obtained with formaldehyde, the phenol, para-phenylenediamine and formaldehyde in a molar ratio of 2 to 7: 1 to 3: 4 to 17 can be taken. The resin described is used as a structure-forming additive to the carbon-graphite electrodes, which are intended for arc melting of metals. |
