titleOfInvention WATER-SOLUBLE DISAZO COMPOUNDS, METHOD FOR THEIR PRODUCTION AND THEIR USE AS DYES
abstract Disazo compounds of the general formula (1) <IMAGE> where M is a hydrogen atom or the equivalent of a metal, in particular of sodium, and the two X radicals are identical to or different from each other and each is vinyl or beta -sulphatoethyl or beta -thiosulphatoethyl, and each R is methoxy or ethoxy. They are prepared similarly to a known manner by coupling the diazonium salt of 4-vinylsulphonyl-, 4- beta -sulphatoethylsulphonyl- or 4- beta -thiosulphatoethyl sulphonyl aniline with 1-amino-8-hydroxy-3,6-disulphonic acid as bivalent coupling component in a strongly acidic medium and subsequent coupling of the resulting monoazo compound with the diazonium salt of the aromatic amines of the formula <IMAGE> where R and X are each as defined above, in a weakly acid to weakly alkaline medium. The novel disazo compounds are useful dyes having fibre-reactive dyeing properties, which dye for example wool and synthetic polyamide fibres, but in particular cellulose fibres, by the methods customary for fibre-reactive dyes, in fast greenish black shades.
