The invention relates to 7 alpha -alkoxycarbonyl-15 beta ,16 beta -methylene-4-androsten-3-ones of the general formula I <IMAGE> in which R<1> is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R<2> is an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, X is the group <IMAGE> and the bond between carbon atoms 1 and 2 is saturated or represents a double bond. The compounds according to the invention have valuable pharmacological properties as aldosterone antagonists, i.e. they reverse the effect of deoxycorticosterone on the excretion of sodium and potassium. |
