titleOfInvention METHOD FOR CRUSHING AND ACTIVATING LIMESTONE BY REALIZATION WITH CARBON DIOXIDE
abstract The invention relates to a non-mechanical method for converting coarsely ground limestone into a very fine powder. A slurry of ground calcium carbonate or limestone is admixed with gaseous carbon dioxide at high pressure, in order to convert the solid in the slurry into an unstable form. Then the carbon dioxide pressure is reduced abruptly, so that a slurry of activated calcium carbonate particles is formed whose particle size is considerably reduced. This slurry of activated calcium carbonate can be used for scrubbing exhaust gases <IMAGE>
