| abstract |
In a radiation coagulator with a hand-held housing (10), an incandescent lamp (22) arranged therein as a radiation source and a radiation emergence window (12) through which the radiation of the incandescent lamp emerges from the housing, the housing comprises a heat accumulator (16) which takes up the heat lost by the incandescent lamp and thereby slows down the temperature rise in the housing during operation of the radiation coagulator. This permits use of a radiation source having a comparatively high output and thus of a radiation emergence window having a relatively large cross-section, so that it is also possible to coagulate a correspondingly larger area of tissue in one pass. The radiation coagulator is compact and easy to handle; advantageous embodiments can be fully sterilised. <IMAGE> |
